Whatever happened to the GOP that I often supported over the years? I am 63.

I never dreamed the day would come when I would sport bumper stickers on all my vehicles that state, “Democracy not theocracy.” I never dreamed that religious dogma would come to trump science in national GOP politics. When candidates fall all over each other to pander to a religiosity that is without one shred of objective evidence, we have a serious problem in this country.

To discount the scientific endeavors and accomplishments of the centuries, to return to a mentality that has opposed many, if not most human advances, to return to superstitions based on the thoughts of men who were thoroughly ignorant of the world around them and the ways in which it worked. Tell me I am dreaming, having nightmares. Please!
